Apple debuts new U2, Photo iPods; expands EuroTunes

At its Special Music Event with U2, Apple yesterday introduced its U2 iPod Special Edition (20GB model for $350) and iPod Photo (40GB and 60GB models). The company also launched a U2 Digital Box Set with the complete archive of the band's songs, expanded the European iTunes Music Store to nine new countries, announced the November launch of iTunes in Canada and Nov 20 opening of the London Apple Store, launched a new iPod Store, and introduced new Apple iPod sock carry cases. Jobs pushed the iPod Photo as the 'next big thing' while downplaying video. In addition, Apple released iTunes 4.7, a new iPod Updater, and QuickTime 6.5.2. Apple is also offering a continuous rebroadcast of event highlights via satellite and in QuickTime.

I'll buy it and
I'll transfer all my photos to it and
Then I can show all my photos on a little screen
Or I can get out that wire and show them on my TV
Just like my old Sony digital camera has done for years!

That I have never used.

I do like the color menus, though.

Wow, I posted a message a little over 4 hours ago, asking for an iTunes Music Store in Canada, and I guess Apple saw my post and thought..gee..that's a great idea..and decided to open one in Canada..

So..nice job me..hehe..

$500?

HAHAHAAHAAHAHaaaa... (wipes dribble off face)

Wow. Apple is smoking some SERIOUS crack now. Steveo really needs to lay off the doobies. Wow.

If this thing sells it's solely due to apple marketing. I can pay $500 and get a Tungesten T3 with 10X the capablity, play songs, watch movies, view pictures, AND do my work. On top of that, Apple's iPod now costs what a bottom grade FULL PC costs. The are out of their friggin minds.

And Apple probably didn't want to port it over.

Do the Tungesten T3s have 60GB hard drives in them? If so, show me where to buy this device.

So does that PC fit in your pocket? Does that Tungsten come with optical audio out and composite video out?

It's not for everyone get it? It's a niche product. Nobody is holding a gun to your head to buy one.

The software update app isn't picking up these new software packages. What gives? Is Apple that behind the ball or maybe these aren't really "updates" for those of us with older iPods?

Gimmee a break. How utterly lame.

And $29?!

Unless these things offer special attachment straps and pockets for accessories... I can see these things sitting on the shelf for a long time.

Then again, never underestimate the idiocy of consumers...

Half a laptop?

The existing iPod can already store images just not show them. Is it going to be worth $500 to be able to see them on a 2" screen? Not for my money.
